With support from Aga Khan University, Stretchers Youth Organization (SYO) conducted a series of mental health awareness sessions targeting youths in Changamwe Sub County. The organization trained 100 young people, equipping them with essential knowledge on mental health and well-being. During these sessions, participants were sensitized on various aspects of mental health, including common mental illnesses, misconceptions and myths surrounding mental health conditions, and the importance of seeking professional support.
The training also covered key topics such as Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), substance abuse, and self-care practices, highlighting their direct impact on mental well-being. Through these discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding of the factors influencing mental health and acquired practical strategies for managing stress and supporting their peers facing mental health challenges.
