Rebecca Achieng’ is the current staff of Stretchers youth organization serving as the program Officer in Mombasa Kenya, She has a background of diploma in project management from the Kenya institute of management. With over 5 years’ experience in Life skills, advocacy on sexual reproductive health issues and human rights agenda. She has also gone through mental health course by Agha Khan University, Mobilizing support course by change the game Academy under Kenya Community Development Foundation and biblical studies by Empower Africa. Through her knowledge and experience, she has led the implementation of several projects both in stretchers youth organization and other youth organizations. In 2018, she began by serving as the project officer of the AGoTA project, a project that aimed at Promoting legal and policy framework that empower girls and advance their sexual reproductive health rights in Mombasa County. In 2019/2020 she again served as the project officer of the Girls on Transformative Advocacy (GOTA) project and Kijana Imarika Bonga Elimika (KIBE) project. The two projects also aimed at empowering the adolescents and young people on budget advocacy as much as improving their wellbeing of the adolescent’s girls and young women in Mombasa County. Today she is leading two projects in the organization dubbed We Lead project funded by Hivos and Youth Labor Social Accountability Project funded by Solidarity Centre.
Rebecca Achieng’ is also the menstrual cup champion in Kenya and spearheading the issues of menstrual hygiene management among adolescents’ girls and young women. In 2018, she was among the adolescent’s girls nominated by the county government of Mombasa department of health to sit in the technical team of developing the Mombasa county Adolescents and young people strategy on SRH/HIV 2018-2023. In 2021, she was among the selected influential young people by PEACE FIRST organization that addresses the injustices faced by young people in the community. Currently she is also a board member of the strategic community development in Mombasa County and a member of the She Leads Movement Mombasa County.
